LG V60 5G mobile phone utilizes the ES9219 to set a new benchmark in audiophile-like performance
Milpitas, California – ESS Technology, the industry leader in audio and analog design, today announced that the ES9219 audio System-on-Chip (SoC) is behind the amazing audio prowess of the new LG V60 ThinQ. The ES9219 is the 3rd generation of SABRE® DAC headphone System-on-Chip (SoC) solutions for mobile devices from ESS Technology. This new generation provides exceptional audio performance, with +130dB SNR and +121dB DNR, while also introducing several new features to improve the performance of the mobile devices.
The new features in the ES9219 offer substantial audio benefits for V60 users, including the brand-new proprietary THD solution, to significantly reduce variation across devices without the need for manual custom tuning achieving -114 dB THD+N at 1.0Vrms into 100k Ohm. This ensures that every V60 will have the best possible performance. Additionally, to further improve cross talk, the V60 uses a proprietary cross-talk reduction solution in the ES9219. This technology allows for the cross talk to be canceled at the jack connection where variation in a user’s personal headset introduces error. The result is a crosstalk free listening experience for the user.
The ES9219 offers a higher level of integration than previous generations by including audiophile-quality blocks that previously required external components. The integrating jack-sensing and a patented output switching eliminates the need for external components while still allowing a low-power bypass for the system CODEC. The newly integrated PLL and LDO eliminates the need for external regulators and crystal to support low noise across the full range of audio sampling rates.
“With the recent trend of streaming companies providing higher fidelity audio, the need for high audio quality SoC DAC is becoming more relevant than ever before,” said Robert Wong, Vice President of Worldwide Sales and Marketing for ESS. “The ES9219 SABRE® DAC headphone System-on-Chip (SoC) solution provides audiophile-like performance and allows mobile customers to differentiate their phones as audio performance becomes more valuable to consumers.”
